First Writing Assignment

Before I got out of my car today to go into work, I checked my phone to see if anything was shaking here or on my LinkedIn account, a lot of which I can check through my e-mail, and I found that I had received my first assignment from Taylored (sic) Content–his last name is Taylor. You know what that means, don’t you, boys and girls? It means that if all goes well I’m going to get paid to write on Tuesday.

That’s a great feeling. It’s been a while since I was actually paid to sit down and write–that’s nobody’s fault but mine–and I’m anxious for the possibility. Plus, I’m pretty giddy at the thought of the challenge and the opportunity to begin learning about a field and its jargon that I presently know little of.

The last time I did work similar to this was more than a decade ago, and the very thought of the work made me apprehensive toward the point of nausea. That dude was scared of challenges in the unknown; I had more than enough aptitude for the post–my reports quickly became the best that the think-tank was getting–but just starting and keeping it going were so daunting in my mind.

I was much too spastic for the tedium then. These days I have one day like that every couple of weeks, when my thoughts are all over the place, but most days I can just sit here and grind it out. That’s what I’m praying for for tomorrow.

Now, however, I’m going to veg in the recliner for a while and forget the world exists.

It’s gonna be an excellent weekend for me; hope your Tuesday doesn’t suck too badly.
