A Pen on Dinosaur Mountain

My name is Paul Elmo Keenan, and I am a writer living just outside of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I’m originally from the little town of Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, which sits about 40 miles east of Charleston, the state capital.

My wife is from Gettysburg, and I couldn’t be more pleased that we’ve chosen to raise our boys in this area and near this historic site. The boys are now ten and six.

I work as a bartender and write on the side. I’ve been writing with the goal of becoming a working writer for about 24 years. I went back to school and got my BA, and I’ve written a number of long form works. My current project is a novel entitled The Situation with Phillip. Having completed four drafts, I queried the book out to one agent. His response was positive. Yes, it was a rejection, but it came in the form of a personalized 112-word email (you bet I counted) and gave me some suggestions about things I could do to make myself more ready for representation and book-length publication.

One of those suggestions was to really focus on the social media. So, here we are. I’m also on LinkedIn. In some aspects, that  page goes into more detail about projects I have in the works than this one does.

I’m a Christian bartender, who is four years off booze and cigarettes, who believes in the power of music and the amazing potential that God has given each of us. My writings here reflect those things.

I’m glad you’ve come. If you’re an old friend I haven’t seen in a while, I’d love to hear from you. The same is true if you’ve just been directed here by the randomness of the Internet.

My first wish here is that you find something that somehow makes your life a little easier to deal with. It’s all about lugging around the weight of life, and if you find something here that helps lighten your burden, then I will have done what I came to do.

Also, if you do find something of interest here, it would mean a lot to me if you would share it on your social media sites. It is, sadly, all about the numbers.

God’s speed, and thanks for your time and interest.
